Mars Named One of PEOPLE’S “50 Companies That Care” 2018 List
Our Stories

Here at Mars, there’s always a story to tell. From our pet hospitals to farmers in our supply chain, new tales are unfolding every day. Dig into our stories and discover why so many of us are proud to be part of the Mars family!

The PEOPLE Magazine Companies That Care list highlights the top U.S. companies that have succeeded in business while also demonstrating respect, compassion and concern for their employees, their communities and the environment.

Take a look at just a few of the programs that helped land Mars at #41 on this year’s esteemed list:

Mars Ambassador Program: MAP offers qualified Associates a chance to lend their expertise to organizations and communities all over the world. From repairing coral reefs in Indonesia to training cocoa farmers in the Cote D’Ivoire, our globe-trotting Associates say MAP is a life-changing experience that connects them with communities, helps them learn about the issues we face as a business, and develops their leadership skills in real-life situations.

Mars Volunteer Program: This worldwide initiative unleashes the positive power of our greatest assets: our Associates. With paid time off to volunteer, they give their time and talents to organize, lead and recruit other volunteers to join them in making a difference through fundraising, education and hands-on activities.

The Mars Sustainable in a Generation Plan: Our plan is a monumental, unprecedented investment in the future of our planet, people and pets. As part of that plan, we’re investing a billion dollars over the next few years to tackle urgent threats facing our business and the society we operate in — threats like climate change, poverty in our value chain and a scarcity of resources.

The Farmer Income Lab: We founded this collaborative “think-do tank” to improve farmer incomes by building global supply chains that work for both farmers and business. We're starting with the farmers in our supply chains in developing countries. But, ultimately, we want to see everyone working in agricultural supply chains earn enough to enable a decent standard of living.

PEOPLE magazine teams up with Great Place to Work® to produce the ranking using the research firm's extensive database and inside knowledge of outstanding workplaces around the globe. This year’s rankings considered more than 4.5 million employees at 1,000 companies across the country. Rankings also take into account employees' personal stories about the difference their workplaces have made in their lives and in their communities — and the generosity of their organization's benefits, financial donations and volunteerism.

Congratulations to our Associates around the globe, united by their passion for caring for the world’s people, pets and planet!
