Bin-It-In Campaign in China - Proper Chewing Gum Disposal | Mars Inc.
Mars News

What should you do with your ABC (already-been-chewed) gum? Our clever Associates with Mars Wrigley Confectionery China have found a fun way to put used gum in its proper place. The “Bin-It-In for Greener & Cleaner Communities” promotion in Shanghai has a three-pronged approach to take a bite out of gum litter – and trash of all kind.

For the fourth year now, we’re partnering with our top customer in China—RT-Mart—to help keep our communities trash free. And this year’s campaign brought together kids, consumers and our Associates for the first time ever!

Now Nominating: Little CEOs

To kick off the campaign, we invited local kids to help us spread the word about proper gum disposal by sharing their anti-litter paintings on our online gallery. After we tallied public votes, we appointed the top five mini artists as “Little CEOs”—Creative Environmental Officers—and printed the top two masterpieces on our portable trash bag dispensers.

Story-telling Portable Disposal Bags and Kid Art Gallery

This summer, Chinese consumers nationwide will also get a limited-edition portable trash bag dispenser featuring Little CEOs’ paintings as a free gift with select Mars products. By scanning the bag’s QR code or going to the on-site gallery exhibition, consumers can listen to the Little CEOs’ stories and learn more about the Bin It campaign.

Mars Volunteer Program for Sales Associates

And now our regional sales Associates are getting in on the disposal act by distributing the artsy bags in 10 cities. We give all of our Associates paid time off to volunteer, and there’s nothing like serving as an anti-trash ambassador right in the middle of the work day!

We’re always looking for ways to make our communities better and love it when they respond with enthusiasm. The Shanghai community can’t wait to see how Mars and RT-Mart clean up next year!
